Music Ministry
Music is a vital part of church life. Our primary purpose is to draw people to God through weekly worship experiences and special musical events throughout the year. We also provide musical training and leadership experiences for everyone, from preschoolers to senior adults.
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned group of adults of all ages who rehearse weekly on Wednesdays from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. This choir leads in worship in our 8:30 a.m. service. In addition, the Sanctuary Choir participates in special Christmas programs and other events throughout the year.
Transformed Praise Band
“Transformed,” a praise band of instrumentalists and vocalists, was formed in 2001 to provide music for the youth worship service. It has since become the praise band for the church, leading our contemporary music for the 11 a.m. worship service each Sunday. Though the band’s membership has changed over the years, the mission of the group has remained the same: to glorify God, humbly serve Him as ministers of music and lead others into his divine presence.

Swingin' Singers
The Swingin’ Singers is open to all those who have reached at least 55 years of age, whether or not they attend First Baptist Church. The group meets every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. for rehearsal, Bible devotional, prayer, and fellowship. This group’s greatest ministry is singing in nursing homes, senior adult centers, and convalescent centers throughout Hampton Roads.
Impact Youth Praise Team
Impact, our Youth Praise Band is comprised of teenagers who love the Lord and are very gifted musically. They meet Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Room for rehearsal. They regularly lead music for the Wednesday night youth service and also participate in other church events throughout the year.

The Joan Monroe Handbell Choir
This bell choir leads music twice a quarter at our Traditional Service and at special services throughout the year. Minimum music reading skills are required. This group rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in our music suite.
