COVID Building Procedures
We are thankful that we can meet together in person and online for worship each Sunday. While our in person worship is different than before, we have worked hard to provide a safe worship experience for you. Please enter the building through the main Sanctuary doors. Our Hosts will greet you and offer to take your name and phone number; this allows us the ability to contact you should we find out someone in attendance has tested positive for COVID. We ask all in attendance to wear a mask unless health conditions prevent someone from wearing one. Our host team will escort you to a seat as we have designated seating to comply with social distancing recommendations. While those leading in worship will take off their masks as they lead, we ask that everyone else keep their mask on throughout the service. During times of singing, feel free to hum along. After worship, you will be escorted out a different set of doors; our offering kiosks are available as you leave.
While we know this isn’t our ideal way to worship together, we strive to provide a safe in-person worship experience for all who choose to attend. Our services are available online as well as on our Facebook page.
Where do I park?
We have two main entrances to our building on Sunday mornings:

Sanctuary entrance with the brick columns face south toward City Center Blvd.

Children and youth ministry entrance on the rear side of the building across from the playground and ball field. There are guest parking spaces in both locations. If you need to register nursery, preschool, and elementary school children, we suggest parking near the children’s ministry entrance.

What do I wear?
Dress how you will be most comfortable. We think people and relationships are more important than what you wear.

First Baptist Church, Newport News is a multi-generational church with people of all ages, which makes for a variety in styles of dress. Generally speaking, the worshipers at the 8:30 service tend to dress in more traditional church apparel, while at the 10:30 service you will see people dressing more casually — wearing jeans, golf shirts and numerous other styles.

The Spanish language service has a wide variety of dress options.

Where do my children go?
Nursery and preschool-age children are on the first floor inside our main children’s entrance located at the rear of our building across from the ball field and playground.

Grade school children are on one side of the second floor.

Youth 6th-12th grade are on the other side of the second floor.

*Children’s and Youth programs are currently unable to meet in the building, but outside worship and learning opportunities are available. Check our church Facebook page for information on upcoming opportunities.
